A little clarity from Si

Buying a Florida home? Start your insurance here.

Start shopping while you’re working toward closing, with time to compare coverage and resolve any insurance requirements. I’ll help you gather the home details and compare carrier prices; your agency and lender then confirm what is needed for your closing.

When should I start?

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau includes shopping for homeowners insurance in the closing process. If you’re using a mortgage, your lender will generally require insurance. Ask the lender what coverage and proof it needs, and when it needs them.

What should I have ready for ShopInsure?

Start with the address of the home you’re buying and tell me how you’ll use it. I’ll help you check the property details before requesting prices.

  • Your expected closing date and requested insurance start date.
  • The roof installation year and covering, if known.
  • Your current address when I ask where you live now.
  • Any inspection reports or replacement records the seller can provide.
  • Your name, email, phone number and date of birth for the current price request.

What happens after prices appear?

You can see carrier prices before creating an account. Choose an option, sign in to save it and send a review request when you’re ready. Jenna will check the actual quote, coverage, deductibles and remaining requirements with you.

I’d tell Jenna your closing date and any lender deadline in that request. If timing is tight, use the contact details on this site to reach the agency directly. Choosing a price in ShopInsure does not start coverage.

Should I ask about flood insurance too?

Yes. Most homeowners policies do not cover flood damage. Ask about flood coverage separately and confirm any lender requirement; a home insurance price on this site is not confirmation of flood protection.

What should I confirm before closing?

I’d keep a short checklist with your agency and lender: the insured address, names, effective date, required coverage, payment arrangements and proof of insurance. Confirm that any outstanding application or inspection steps are finished. A saved price screenshot is not proof that a policy has been issued.
